Many of you may have heard about the orca attack at seaworld orlando florida me being a HUGE orca fan was curiose on what exactly happend. There's so many different stories.

So what actually happened  was tilikum(tilly)the largest orca at seaworld, because of his large size no trainer was allowed in the water with tilly he was mostly used to splash the audience. In this case tilly was with trainer dawn brancheau durring the dining with shamu show everything was normal for the time being exept a couple of ocas were not doing their tricks the trainers just kinda left them be and do their own thing while dawn was playing with her favorite whale tilly. Now because of tilly's large size there were sertain rules.

Only a senior trainer was alowed to sit on the endge of the pool with him. AND no one was allowed in the water with the whale.

dawn followed every rule she was lying down in the edge of the pool while tilly was popping up and playing with her when he grabbed her hair and pulled her in and drowned her (im not going to get into the gorry details) the outopsi report said that she died from brousing and trama but she mainly drowned

Because the fact that tilikum was dawns favorite whale and she treated all the orcas as her children they have decided not to put him down but not yet sure if the whale will ever preform again. they had their first show after the attack but no trainer was in the water they just directed the animals from land. no trainer will get into the water until they further the investigation.

In my opinion i think they are handeling the whole situation very well taking all the safty reprecautions as neccesary and not getting to hasty in the death of tilikum he's still alive and hopfully will stay that way.

*Another little didbit you might want to know about the term "shamu".
shamu is just a stage name for any orca they chose to use that day but when they make you do that shamu dance and a huge orca comes out and splashes the audience If you were at orlando it was most likly tilikum because he's the largest orca there.*
